…angekommen (arrived/settled) raises the question of whether and how people have found in Germany a new home. What makes people feel at home? In the search of answers, I was looking for people who wanted to share information on their situation, their concepts of life and experiences. Much to my surprise I often encountered a spontaneous interest and great openness at the first contact.

The portraits were made in places where people felt most at ease, in the majority of cases at home. The texts are a result from our discussions. Both the photographs and the texts have been authorized by the person portrayed in hindsight. They have shown me a variety of different lifestyles and different perspectives on Germany. For this "broadening of horizons", the conversations and the confidence placed in me, I want to thank all the protagonists of this project.
