Pohl & Jozwiak
For months, the employees of the small shipyard Pohl & Jozwiak fought for their jobs. It was all about a small municipal subsidy, because there was no shortage of work at the shipyard, which was known for outstanding training and a high apprenticeship rate; moreover, Pohl & Jozwiak was the only shipyard to train women as shipbuilders.
A book has now been published on this topic and with many of my photos:
Das Wunder vom Kohlenschiffhafen – The miracle of the coal ship harbor: About the resistance of a workforce against the demise of their shipyard – An almost forgotten episode in Hamburg’s port history by Christian Zillich.
Published by the Geschichtswerkstatt Eimsbüttel in Hamburg, Germany.
